Just in time for the big holiday called Xmas (or something) the team at VSL has posted a new update to Vienna Ensemble Pro. They call it “public beta” but their released builds are always very solid so I’m jumping straight in.


And is it a nice update! Finally it seems that EastWest PLAY can co-exist in the same arrangement as VE Pro now. It was a naughty AU-bug which “could be” fixed if you loaded the PLAY plugins first. Take a look at the changelog below.

Arturia has just released version 2 of one of my favorite softsynths, the ARP2600 V. And the update is FREE for registered users!

I’m a bit scared of opening up this plug, sometimes I start to play with the various presets and time just flies. But it is one of my favorites for getting that “ultra” analog sound.

Apart from various small fixes it also includes several new presets from J Thompson, K Lamb, R Lyons, T Conrardy and T Odakama. How does it sound? As lovely as always…

In this second part I’ll show you how to sum it up in Logic. This is really straight forward and no rocket-science whatsoever. I have thought out a good flow from VE Pro to Logic but that’s about it.

As you can see from the screenshots below (and from the first part) I have all the processing for the different audio channels in Logic. I could just as well have loaded the plugins directly inside the VE Pro hosts but this way has one big advantage. I can easily sculpt the sound the way I want for different songs/projects without messing with the VE Pro setups. Seems more “Logic” to me (pun intended) since the “sound” is saved with the different songs, not in the VE Pro templates.
