Vienna Ensemble Pro

Had a few minutes to spare the other day and started to rebuild my “old” Kontakt 3.5 standalone template with the help of Vienna Ensemble PRO (VE PRO for short).

Setup is extremely simple and intuitive, the team at VSL (Vienna Symphonic Library) have done a really great job on the interface and how everything “connects”. I felt at home right away.

So, now I have a nice setup containing two separate VE PRO servers, one 32-bit server with four instances of 16-channels of Kontakt 3.5 multis each and one 64-bit server running one instance of all my VSL Strings (Special Edition, Standard, Extended and PLUS) plus the Soprano Choir.

Hooking all this lovely stuff up to Logic is just as simple. It just works! All this on a single 8-core MacPro without as much as a glitch. Simply pure love! I haven’t stressed it to it’s knees, yet. That test will take place during this coming weekend, be sure of it!

Conclusion? Depends on your needs I guess but if you need an external host running all your samples: BUY IT! If not, check it out anyway. Comes highly recommended…
